  • Open Question: anxiety/shyness is ruining my life. advice?

It really easy, sorry for the tl;dr People tell me i am beautiful, pretty, intelligent but that is noy enough it doesn't raise my self-esteem or confidence. only for a moment. i am shy and something tells me i have anxiety as well. Its not easy. I used to have such confidence but after a bad time in high school with friends mainly girls, i found myself being more less of that. I am afraid to speak to guys - unless they talk to me frist or i know that i am not threatened by them. I cant look any guy in the eye if they stare or gaze at me. It frightens me, even though i wish so badly for intimacy with the opposite sex. I may be young, just 17, but i feel that it is ruining my life. I can't.. i cant muster up the courage to just talk toguys. I really can.t Unless again, they talk to me. But strangers? No i can't.. and I want to se bad. My summer sucks right now. Im doing nothing. Im mainly at home after summer school or at the library reading or on the internet. I should be having fun, not staying home feeling depressed. I just.. want things to change. I also have braces, which makes me feel less confident. I have littles less than a year left with them on. Any advice

  • Open Question: How can I conquer my disease called Shyness?

It's beginning to be an issue at work/school, and I thought I would break out of my shell with all of the human interactions I've come across but it doesn't quite work that way. I don't have horrible anxiety i.e. have to take pills or see counselors, but I just can't seem to meet people willingly and speak up. I also have trouble starting conversations. Are there any quirky ideas that could help, like someone told me to take up singing in my room and practice in the mirrors. I've taken speech classes before and they were great, but this issue keeps going. I need a big self-esteem booster...

  • Open Question: Would you care if a girl had thick, noticeable hair below her bellybutton?

i shaved that hair before but now it's very thick and noticeable. i have black hair and light skin too. when i go to the beach, i see that only guys have hair there - and my friends(who are girls) have no hair there. i dunno if they shave but i always feel so embarrassed about it. I always think: did they notice my stomach hair?! what do they think? is it really weird? that's the only thing holding me back from having fun at the beach. I considered using a one-piece swimsuit, but i love 2-pieces...and i'm not fat or skinny, i'm average size. i don't want the hair to ruin a friendship(if they think it's weird-they might treat me different) and i don't want it to ruin a relationship GUYS:DOES THIS BOTHER YOU?! GIRLS: WOULD YOU THINK IT'S GROSS AND TREAT ME DIFFERENTLY? i have major self-esteem issues when it comes to my body. please help me... >.<

  • Open Question: Addicted to flattery?

When a man shows interest in me, even though I may not have deep feelings for them in return, I continuously do things to make them like me even more, however, when they ask me out, I always turn them down. I know this is messing with people's sentiments, but I almost can't help myself. I love the feeling of flattery that comes with someone liking you. It boosts your self-esteem, too. Anyone one else out there similar to me? And is this a bad thing?
